Soon after taking photos of The Strumbellas, I got the opportunity to take photos of The 1975. This was a show I was definitely looking forward to for two main reasons. The first of which was that the last time they came around was three years ago, and the second is that when they were here I wasn't able to go because I was working the part-time job I had at the time that night, and it sold out. Though even at that time I couldn't really say I was all that bummed about not being able to go since I wasn't really the biggest fan of them, but getting this opportunity definitely made it up to high school me.
Though I feel as if I do have to put in the caveat of how kind of garbage their opener was. "070 Shake" opened for The 1975 that night and I had some amount of hope for them going into the show that evening. But I was let down just a bit by their performance. The contrasting music genres of hip-hop and indie of the opener and the headliner respectively would have been a welcome addition to the show as a whole, but the performance was not at the caliber of something I would expect people to pay $50.00+ (or $60.00+ after presale, and not including fees and taxes) for even though they were only an opening act. All that said however, their set was only about 30 to 45 minutes long.
The 1975 however did not disappoint. Playing to a completely sold out Grey Eagle Event Centre their unique sound and energy to their music definitely filled the space. Playing the entirety of their album I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it and some of their larger hits from the past album(s), it was accompanied by an incredible stage production and very receptive audience. The show itself lasted for about an hour and a half, and was paced incredibly well. With the time they had, the show was filled with many incredibly beautiful moments--though that view may just be from my slight sentimental attachment to the band, and specifically this song.
I was a little more nervous than I would actually like to admit going into the show this time around. Which I think shows in a could of the photos I took, but I definitely felt like I got a few decent ones, and that my photos are improving as I'm going through all this.

And with that, I will have another post up next week.
Till next time.
